‘Developing Managers’ is an approved CMI Centre offering qualifications in;
- Management and Leadership
- Coaching and Mentoring
- Project Management
We work with managers, leaders, coaches and mentors from junior to senior level, from all types of organisations whether in the public, private or voluntary sector and from small to medium sized enterprises (SME) to FTSE 100 businesses.
We offers qualifications from Level 3, ideal for new and aspiring leaders, managers and coaches to Level 7 suited to senior leaders, managers and coaches or those who aspire to work at this level.
Designed for aspiring, supervisory or first line managers, Level 3 offers a broad range of knowledge ranging from team leading to project and resource management. For middle managers, Level 5 (equivalent to second year undergraduate degree) is more appropriate as it focuses on developing core management skills such as managing resources, people, accounting & finance and information management. Level 7 has been developed for senior leaders, managers, coaches and directors who have the responsibility to translate organisational strategy into effective performance.
In addition, CMI is the only organisation that offers Level 8 (equivalent to a doctorate) which is suited to C-level senior managers. If you are interested in this level of qualification please get in touch with us using our Contact page (on the menu above).
Developing Managers specialise in delivering CMI Level 3, Level 5 and Level 7 qualifications as these tend to be the most popular. If you have a different need then do please get in touch with us.
Length of Qualification
Once you have selected the level at which you want to study you can also choose how many modules you want to study; these are grouped together into either an Award, Certificate or Diploma which each providing an indication of the amount of time that you have to study to achieve the qualification.
- Award: is a concise qualification developing basic skills and knowledge and can take as little as 4-5 weeks to complete. The Award requires between 20 and 30 hours of study usually in 1 module of your choice followed by 1 assignment.
- Certificate: builds on and broadens the areas covered within the Award and can take anywhere between 1-3 months to complete. The Certificate requires at least 40 hours of study usually over 3 modules and 3 assignments.
- Diploma: helps develop a comprehensive range of skills and knowledge and is typically scheduled to take 6-12 months. The Diploma requires a minimum of 120 hours of study over at least 6 and probably 7 modules and assignments.
In a couple of cases there is also an Extended Diploma which consists of about 9 modules of study and 9 assignments.
You can start your studies with a Certificate and then build this into a Diploma with the additional modules needed.
If you have studied the Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership we can put you in touch with a number of UK Universities who will give you a maximum exemption of “usually” two thirds of their MBA such that you will normally only have to complete a Dissertation or Work-based project to get your MBA. This route can save you time and also a considerable amount of money.
What options do I have to study?
Developing Managers is an award-winning developer of e-learning materials for leadership and management qualifications and we recognise that for many individuals this is the most appropriate way of gaining a qualification as it allows you to learn “anytime, any place and anywhere”.
Distance Learning: all of our programmes are delivered via our own Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which provides you with access to learning resources, help and support and contact with your tutor. All of our courses are fully tutor supported meaning that you are never on your own and without help.
Blended Learning: this option combines some classroom delivery with distance learning using our own VLE and is again fully tutor supported. The amount of classroom delivery will depend on the programme. If this option is for a business who have a cohort of students we will agree the amount of classroom delivery with the company. We also have programmes which are “open” programmes available to individual learners and you should email us using the Contact form on the menu above for more information.
Taught Programmes: these are normally delivered for businesses as they require a good deal of time away from the workplace. They can be tailored, to some extent around the needs of a business and their students. These programmes are also delivered via our VLE.
